From tapping a tree to tasting delicious maple syrup, you will take an inside look into every step of the syrup making process. Our naturalists will help you identify maple trees, learn the parts of the tree and their functions, and how the maple sap is turned into syrup. Snowshoes or traction cleats will be available if conditions require them. Recommended Ages: Multigenerational Quinzee (Snow Shelter) Building Learn how to make a simple, fun style of snow shelter: a quinzee! Quinzees are made by digging out the center of a large pile of snow. We’ll show you how to make sure the shelter is strong enough to keep you warm and safe all winter long (at least until spring melts it away). Recommended Ages: 8-14 Making Maple Candy Maple season will just be starting, so let’s make something really special with Prescott Farm’s fresh maple syrup: maple candy! Participants will work together to turn maple syrup into two styles of maple candy to enjoy. We will also taste test maple sap and the different grades of syrup.
