supporting natural curiosity, making new friends, and building independence in nature.

Maples (ages 7-8) – Maples are immersed in engaging activities, challenges, and games while they further explore
their growing curiosity for the natural world around them.

learning to become role models for the younger campers.

Hawthorns/LITs (ages 13-14) – Hawthorns or Leaders-in-Training (LITs) develop their skills as environmental
leaders in the camp community. They engage in environmental stewardship through action projects and
teambuilding while still participating in activities as a camper!

the day. They will gain job skills, build confidence, and have fun as they volunteer at camp in a leadership role.

Camp Activities

Opening Circle: Opening Circle is our all-camp start to the day. It is a chance to get the campers energized to be at camp and informed about the day. Opening Circle activities include a large group game, the schedule for the day, and rules refreshers.

Morning & Afternoon Activities: These main activity periods will be with their separate groups and focused around the week’s theme. Activities during this time will be unique each day throughout the summer to provide something new for campers returning for multiple weeks.

Choice Times: Choice times are when campers are able to choose from a selection of activities. These activities are not necessarily connected to the session’s theme, so it gives some variation in activities. Choice Time offerings will typically include both more active and more calm options.

Woods Time: Woods Time is an option every day during Morning Choice Time. Woods time takes place in a special place in the woods, giving campers the opportunity for free play using only natural materials. Following safety rules, campers will often build stick forts, make believe, and look for salamanders.

Snack/Lunch: Snack and lunch are times to refuel our bodies for our upcoming adventures, and include all of camp eating together. Campers are instructed to wash hands before and after eating, as well as remain sitting while eating. Campers are to only eat the food their adults at home packed for them. Sharing food is not allowed. Campers do not need to eat all of the food they brought with them but are encouraged to eat something, especially at lunchtime. If staff notice a pattern of a camper eating very little or no food, they will notify the Camp Director who will have a discussion with the camper’s adults as needed.

Closing Circle: Closing circle is our chance to wrap up the day and reflect on our successes and express gratitude for something that made the day possible. Each day will end with the camp coming together in a circle where a few campers from each group will be invited to share a moment of gratitude from the day. Announcements and reminders will also be shared at this time.

Wagon Rides (typically Tuesdays): Each week of the summer, groups will take a ride in our tractor-pulled wagon through the fields at Prescott Farm, including to areas otherwise not often visited. Campers with their counselors will be dropped off for around 20 minutes of playing and exploring at Rock Island: a special pile of boulders in the shade created when the fields were first cleared in the early 1800s.

Quest Day (typically Wednesdays): Quest Day is a special day of the week involving a series of mini activities and challenges that the group does together. Each week’s Quest is unique and a special surprise for all!

Hungry Forest (typically Thursdays): Hungry Forest is a favorite WildQuest Camp tradition! This optional game simulates predator-prey relationships in nature. Campers are randomly placed into different animal groups then work together with others in their animal group. The goal is for groups to get the food, water, and shelter they need to survive and not be eaten by predators.

Campfire (typically Fridays): Campfire happens in the afternoon on the last day of each camp week. This is a culmination of the camp week where campers perform songs or skits that they have been practicing for the whole camp while sitting around fire. They also share what they are grateful for from that week of camp.

Camp Philosophy & Overview

Since 1999, Prescott Farm’s environmentally-focused WildQuest Camps have offered kids the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow in nature. During the New Hampshire school vacation weeks in late February and April and during nine nature-themed weeks each summer, WildQuest campers develop ecological awareness through our enriching day camp programs. Most of the camp day is spent outdoors taking part in nature activities, animal and plant identification, arts and crafts, cooking, Quests, games, and hands-on learning.

The goals of WildQuest camps are to:

    • Provide a high-quality environmental education program for children
    • Provide a fun, safe summer learning environment
    • Create a community atmosphere where all individuals feel valued, respected and safe

WildQuest Camp is staffed by enthusiastic staff who take part in a week-long training. Our camp is licensed by the State of New Hampshire DHHS, and we are members of the New Hampshire Camp Directors Association and American Camp Association in order to stay current on best practices.
