May 7: Fairies Need Homes
The Prescott Farm Fairies, returning from their sunny adventures in the South, found their delicate homes scattered and shattered by Winter storms. Now, the enchanting Fairy Forest is in disarray, and the air is filled with the sounds of urgency. We call upon little builders with big hearts to join us in this magical realm and lend their tiny hands to help reconstruct the fairies’ whimsical abodes. Together, we can restore the beauty of Fairy Forest and bring joy back to our fairy friends!
May 14: Down at the Vernal Pool
Discover the enchanting world of salamanders, frogs, and toads! Vernal pools are vital ecosystems that serve as crucial habitats for these fascinating creatures. Join us for an exciting exploration of one of our beloved wetland areas, where vibrant life thrives. We’ll provide the nets for catching glimpses of these amphibians while you come dressed in rain boots, pants, or waders to keep you comfortable and dry as we wade through this unique landscape. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure in nature!
May 21: Up Beyond the Trees
Can you hear that gentle rustle? Can you see the shadows flitting through the canopy? Is it a sleek bat weaving through the dusk, a playful flying squirrel gliding gracefully, or vibrant birds soaring through the sky? Join us on this delightful adventure to uncover the wonders above us. Don’t forget your sunglasses to shield your eyes from the sun’s glare, and we’ll provide binoculars for everyone to catch every detail of these enchanting creatures in flight.
May 28: Edible Violets
We love the beauty of violet flowers in the spring. Did you know they have vitamins A and C? That’s right! We can eat the petals – a delightful and unexpected treat from nature! Violets make a delicious syrup to add to yummy ice cream. Come help make this delicious syrupy treat! The syrup has a delicate floral flavor and a beautiful purple hue, perfect for drizzling over vanilla ice cream.
June 4: Rising Roots
Join Worm (the puppet) for a fun and educational gardening adventure! Together, we’ll dig into compost, meet our squiggly friends (the worms!), and plant seeds to watch them grow. Through songs, teamwork, and hands-on fun, the kids will learn how plants thrive when treated with care and patience. They’ll discover the wonders of composting, see how worms help enrich the soil, and plant their own seeds to take home. As they sing songs about gardening and work together to nurture their plants, they’ll learn the importance of sunlight, water, and love for growing strong, healthy plants. This week, we’ll not only grow plants but also friendships and a deeper love for the Earth!
June 11: Springtime Animal Babies
Hop into the enchanting world of spring’s cutest new arrivals! This week, we’ll discover adorable baby animals like fluffy lambs, chirping chicks, hopping bunnies, and more through pictures and fun stories. Children are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal farm animal, wild New Hampshire animal, or animal toy to join in the fun. Through playful activities like creating animal tracks in playdough and having a “baby animal parade” where we march and wiggle like our favorite animal babies, we’ll bring these little creatures to life! Exciting songs and stories will spark their curiosity and fill the day with joy as we explore the wonders of springtime’s tiniest wonders.
