Adapt! Analyze! Adapt some more!

Whether you are a business owner or a school administrator, a parent working from home or an essential worker managing in a changed landscape on the job, adapting to the protocols and uncertainty of the past few weeks has been an extraordinary experience.

Like all of you, Prescott Farm’s board and staff are working collaboratively toward our mission: connecting people with the natural world. With the implementation of The CARES Act and our approved application to the Payroll Protection Program, we’re happy to report that all Prescott Farm staff remain employed at pre-shutdown levels. When the time is right, our doors will reopen with programs that inspire and inform curious learners of all ages.

Meanwhile, we are pleased to catch you up on some of the ways our educators have innovated and adapted to make nature-based learning possible, even from a distance. Today’s edition features the fun and learning Fledglings staff and families are enjoying – even as they are separated. Enjoy!

With gratitude,

-The Prescott Farm Staff

Fledglings Nature-Based Preschool

Along with other classrooms around the state and nation, the Fledglings 2019-2020 school year ended abruptly in mid-March. Nothing can replace the experience of the children and staff exploring, playing and learning together, but everyone is making the best of it. Educators continue to provide nature-based curriculum to Fledglings’ families, largely through a closed Facebook Group. Content includes interactive, Kindergarten readiness-lessons easily done at home and in backyards. Families, in turn, keep connected to each other and Fledglings teachers with their own photos, videos, and stories of at-home adventures.

“Overheard” on Fledglings Facebook Group

Meet Rascal, Hei Hei, and a “Chick to be Named Later”. They joined a Fledglings Family this spring and were celebrated on the Fledglings Family Facebook Group.

My Fledgling appreciates your engagement and posts throughout this craziness! He asks almost daily if there’s a new song or if there’s any pictures up.

Mama, I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see my teachers!

Happy Monday! We were out this morning looking for turtles.

We hope you know how much you have been brightening our days.

She wants you to know that the snake’s home is a rock with a hole under it and moss on top. She’s decorating it with other smaller pretty rocks!

We look forward to all the adventures everyone sends. It’s nice to know we can just watch it without having to wonder if it’s ok!
